Authors Retain Copyright

Authors retain copyright in articles published in The American Journal of Medical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Research. Authors are not required to transfer copyright ownership to the journal.

By submitting an article for publication, authors agree that, upon acceptance, they grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish and distribute the work and identify itself as the original publisher.

Authors must have the necessary rights and permissions to authorize publication of all content included in their manuscript.

Creative Commons License

Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless a different license is explicitly stated on the article.

Under this license, readers may:

  • Read, download, save, and print articles free of charge.

  • Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Translate, adapt, and build upon the material.

  • Reuse the material for educational, research, and commercial purposes.

Users must give appropriate credit to the authors, cite the original publication, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes have been made. Attribution must not suggest that the authors or journal endorse the reuse.

Users must not impose additional legal restrictions or technological measures that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

Full license: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International

Rights of Authors

Authors may share and reuse their published articles without requesting additional permission from the journal. This includes:

  • Depositing the published article in institutional or subject repositories without an embargo.

  • Sharing the article on personal websites and scholarly platforms.

  • Using the article in teaching, presentations, theses, or dissertations.

  • Incorporating the material into subsequent scholarly work, subject to appropriate disclosure and citation.

  • Distributing copies to colleagues and other readers.

Reuse should acknowledge the original publication and include the article’s DOI or permanent URL where available. Copyright ownership does not exempt authors from policies concerning duplicate publication.

Attribution Requirements

When sharing or adapting an article, users should include:

  • The author names.

  • The article title.

  • The journal name and publication details.

  • The DOI or permanent article URL, where available.

  • A statement identifying the CC BY 4.0 license and a link to it.

  • An indication of any changes, translations, or adaptations.

Translations and adaptations must be clearly identified so that readers can distinguish them from the original published work.

Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce material owned by others where permission is required. This may include photographs, illustrations, tables, figures, questionnaires, and substantial extracts of text.

Any separate copyright or license conditions must be identified in the relevant credit line. Third-party material is covered by the article’s Creative Commons license only when the stated permissions allow it.

If a proposed reuse is not covered by the applicable license or a permitted legal exception, users must obtain permission directly from the relevant rights holder.

Patient Privacy and Other Rights

The Creative Commons license does not remove obligations concerning patient confidentiality, privacy, consent, or other rights that may apply to the content.

Authors must obtain appropriate consent for publication of identifiable patient information or images. Readers must respect any applicable privacy and ethical requirements when reusing such material.

License Continuity

The CC BY 4.0 license cannot be withdrawn from users who continue to comply with its terms.

A correction or retraction does not automatically revoke permissions already granted under the license. Anyone sharing or reusing an affected article should clearly identify its current status and include a link to the relevant correction or retraction notice.

Copyright Concerns

Suspected copyright infringement should be reported to the editorial office with the article details, a description of the concern, and supporting evidence.

The journal will assess the complaint, seek clarification where appropriate, and take action according to its Publication Ethics policy. This may include correcting a credit line, removing material that cannot lawfully remain available, or issuing an editorial notice.
